Mexidol is a preparation with polycomponent range of pharmacological effects and multifactor mechanism of action. Its antioxidative, membrane-acting effects, ability to modulate the functioning of receptors and membrane-bound enzymes, to restore neurotransmitter balance are the key elements of Mexidol's mechanism of action. Mexidol's uppermost action is aimed at the processes of radical oxidation. On the one hand, the drug inhibits the processes of lipid peroxidation, and on the other hand, it improves the potency of antioxidant enzymes. In addition, it holds a hypolipidemic action.

In order to make the efficient and safe preparation of Mexidol ® more accessible to the patients, as well as to ensure better medications supply to the hospitals of Russian healthcare system, the management of Pharmasoft decided to initiate production of Mexidol ® in packages of 50 ampoules (2 ml.), and in packages of 20 ampoules (5 ml.) with marking "For in-patient hospital departments"
